CHAZU 2025: Maroua Hosts Cameroon’s National University Championship

Since May 29, 2025, the city of Maroua, capital of the Far North region, has been hosting the 20th edition of the Cameroon University Championship (CHAZU 2025). This major event brings together students, athletes, and enthusiasts from across the country to promote the values of sport, culture, and academic excellence.

The opening ceremony, held on May 30 at the municipal stadium, featured a formal and celebratory atmosphere. It took place under the presidency of the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo, who represented the Head of State.

Several government officials were present alongside him, demonstrating the highest authorities’ interest in Cameroon’s youth. Representatives from the academic community, local authorities, and thousands of students also participated in the event.

For three days, Maroua serves as the centre of a competition emphasising fair play, fraternity, and excellence. The programme includes various sports disciplines, cultural performances, and intellectual meetings.

These activities of Chazu 2025 highlight the dynamism, talent, and commitment of Cameroonian youth, recognised as a key driver of national development.
