Chelsea rescues point in eight-goal thriller against Man City

The match at Stamford Bridge was an extraordinary eight-goal thriller that ended in a 4-4 draw, resulting in both teams sharing the spoils. Chelsea rescued a point in a game that started slowly but eventually picked up momentum.

In the 25th minute, Haaland scored for City after being fouled by Cucurella, giving them the lead. However, Chelsea quickly responded with Thiago Silva’s header, equalising the score. Sterling, playing against his former team, then scored to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.

City quickly responded as Akanji, unmarked, equalised with a header just before the end of the first half. Haaland then scored his second goal of the game, giving the champions a 3-2 lead.

Chelsea equalised once more through Jackson, bringing the score to three goals each. However, Rodri seemed to secure the winning goal with only four minutes remaining. His shot deflected off Thiago Silva and found the back of the net, putting City on the brink of victory.

However, there was one final twist in the game. Dias fouled Broja, who had just come onto the field, earning him a penalty. Palmer, who had previously been part of the club’s academy, stepped up and successfully scored from the penalty spot, earning Pochettino’s team a valuable point.

Chelsea’s victory has propelled them into the top half of the table. They will aim to maintain their improved performance when they face an injury-plagued Newcastle United after the international break.

The city missed the opportunity to increase their lead at the top of the table by three points. However, they can now focus on their upcoming important home game against Liverpool after the break.
