Close to 100 arrested in China over manufacture of fake Covid-19 vaccine

Over 80 members of a Chinese criminal group are currently behind bars.

Reports say they were arrested for manufacturing and selling fake COVID-19 vaccines. Their counterfeit vaccine is said to have been sold in China and to other countries.

The particular countries to which the fake COVID-19 vaccines were supplied remain unnamed at the moment, but Chinese state media reports that the group had been active since last September.

The revelation comes amidst already heightened speculations over the safety of vaccines against the pandemic.

While some countries have announced measures to procure vaccines for their citizens, others have outrightly expressed skepticism, citing the duration taken to manufacture them.
