The mayor of the Bamenda City Council has announced that the government has acquired a space in the Bamenda III council area for inhabitants of the Sisia neighborhood to relocate following repeated landslides in the area.
On the occasion of the International Day for Disaster Risk Observation observed on October 13, City Mayor Paul Achombong assured the population that the new site is large enough to contain everyone and has promised them basic amenities in the new site.
Paul Achombong disclosed that they have to provide for the basic amenities like schools, playgrounds, hospitals, water, and electricity while making sure that the basic requirements for life are available for them.
The Sisia neighborhood in Bamenda is considered as one of the risk zones in Bamenda and the government has always been looking for an opportunity to talk about plans of relocating the inhabitants.
