Journalist Comfort Mussa Takes on New Mantle as Ambassador of Swiss Organization, DearYou

By Tata Mbunwe

Prominent Cameroonian journalist and women’s rights advocate Comfort Mussa has taken a new step in her thriving career, becoming the volunteer ambassador of DearYou, a Switzerland-based global women’s health initiative.

The partnership is part of efforts by DearYou—a global women’s health awareness initiative of The DEAR Foundation Switzerland—to expand its footprint in Central Africa.

As a DearYou Ambassador, Mussa will promote awareness by engaging media outlets, participating in public events, and facilitating community conversations that encourage women to access reliable health information and strengthen their health literacy.

“Access to trustworthy health information is essential for women’s dignity and autonomy,” said Comfort Mussa.

“DearYou’s approach aligns closely with the realities women face in Cameroon, where dialogue, trust, and cultural sensitivity are fundamental.”

Comfort Mussa brings extensive experience to the role. A distinguished journalist and civil society advocate, she is the founder of SisterSpeak237, an organization dedicated to telling underreported stories, facilitating debates and discussions on issues affecting women in Cameroon, breaking the silence on taboo subjects, and contributing to sustainable development.

Through this platform, she has impacted thousands of young girls and trained dozens of journalists on better storytelling.

A representative from The DEAR Foundation Switzerland said, “DearYou is built on listening and working through trusted local voices. Our collaboration with Comfort Mussa reflects our commitment to supporting women with respectful, accessible information while recognizing and strengthening existing community leadership.”

This collaboration marks a significant step in DearYou’s growing presence in Central Africa, where trusted local voices are essential for fostering informed dialogue about women’s health.

Cameroon’s bilingual environment and robust media networks present meaningful opportunities to share accessible health information through culturally grounded communication channels.

Ongoing Engagement in Cameroon

DearYou’s activities in Cameroon are developing gradually through voluntary, ambassador-led engagement.

Their planned awareness efforts will include edia engagement through radio, television, print, and online platforms and participation in Women’s Month events and women-focused conferences.

They will also facilitate community conversations through existing local and regional networks and disseminate informational resources and promotion of the DearYou mobile app.

These activities build on existing local initiatives, including those already run by advocates like Comfort Mussa, and are designed to complement, not replace, the work of organizations and individuals already active in women’s empowerment.
