Covid-19: Third wave hits Northwest as 15 persons die in a week

The regional delegate for the Northwest region, doctor Kingly Che Soh has announced that the region is currently experiencing the third wave of the coronavirus, warning that the Delta Varian has already been identified in some patients in the region.

According to Dr. Kingly Che Soh, there are some 631 new cases of the virus in the region that were registered just in the previous week with 15 Covid-19 related deaths.
Health experts have advised that vaccination has been proven to be effective in protecting infected persons including persons hit by the delta variant from going into severe illness.

According to a release signed by Dr Kingly Che Soh recently, some 25.690 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 out of 900.000 people targeted giving a vaccination coverage of 2.7%.
Despite the scary statistics revealed by the regional delegate, public opinion in Bamenda says the vaccine is of no use since it can’t make them immune from the virus.

“I do not see the need for a vaccine that cannot prevent you from an illness. We were made to believe that a vaccine makes you immune from a certain illness at a time. Why should I take a vaccine that can’t make me immune? It’s no use,” Francis retorts.
Patricia, another denizen who is still to be vaccinated says she is still confused on what type of vaccine to take because there are many vaccines.

“I’m still t make up my mind we there to take which vaccine. I do not want a vaccine that tomorrow, I will be asked to come and take next doze and the next doze. I think I will go for my vaccine later,” she said.
