COVID-19: US President taken to hospital after testing positive

The White House has confirmed that US President Donald Trump will be spending a “few days” at a military hospital following the advice of his physicians. This comes hours after the president tested positive for Covid-19.

An official confirmed on Friday. that President Trump will be working from a special suite at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, over the next few days as a precautionary measure.

White House spokesman, Kayleigh McEnany, said the president is in good spirits despite displaying mild symptoms but that he will be staying at the hospital out of “abundance of caution”.

President Trump is said to be receiving an experimental treatment of synthetic antibodies for COVID-19, according to his Doctor who also confirmed that the president is “fatigued but in good spirits.”

President Trump was administered a single dose of Regeneron’s antibody cocktail, according to a letter signed by White House physician Sean Conley. The president also received Vitamin C and zinc, melatonin, and a daily aspirin. confirmed Dr Conley .

This is a COVID-19 antibody coctail which is still undergoing clinical trials but has not yet received any form of regulatory approval.

Early results released last Tuesday by Regeneron, of tests using the said antibody cocktail across a sample of 275 coronavirus patients indicated that the medication reduced the levels of the coronavirus and improved symptoms in patients.

First Lady Melania Trump who also tested positive for COVID-19 “remains well” an has “only a mild cough and headache.”

President Trump who is campaigning for reelection in the November polls has been assessed by Health experts who have raised fears that his age, sex, weight, and other health conditions could increase his chances of experiencing serious illness from the virus.
