CPDM To Contest Election Results In Bafoussam I As SDF Takes Lead

The Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement, CPDM is planning to petition municipal election results in the Bafoussam I council area in the West region of Cameroon.

In a release signed by Nghuihe Kante Pascal, CPDM sub divisional campaign coordinator for Bafoussam, he notes that the results proclaimed by ELECAM declared the Social Democratic Front – SDF winner with 51.03%.

To the CPDM militant, the result has been twisted to favour the SDF party. He says “early on Monday February 10 at about 2:00AM when we were at the party headquarter, we received a call from the divisional officer of Bafoussam I, Aboubakar Garba congratulating us for the victory. So i don’t understand why Elecam has declared SDF winner in Bafoussam I”.

Nguihe Kante Pascal posits that “we have notified the CPDM lawyer for election, Bar. Bienvenu Nougwa for a petition to be filed immediately. We have proofs that there were several election irregularities”.

At the moment the SDF party has not commented on the contest but is celebrating what they call their “deserved victory “.
