CPDM Section Endorses Woka Daniel, As Limbe Votes New City Mayor Tomorrow

By Tata Mbunwe

The CPDM Fako 1B section bureau has endorsed Limbe II Mayor, Ndive Woka Ngale Daniel in his run for City Mayor.

This comes as city officials meet tomorrow Wednesday, March 2, to elect a new Limbe City Council Mayor.

Mayor Ndive Woka is also Chief of Bobende village in Limbe.

They tabled the endorsement in a release issued on Thursday, February 24, stating that they need a “charismatic and dynamic personality” to occupy the City Mayor position.

“We therefore urge all Limbe II Councillors to cast their votes for him as we expect a resounding victory, come Election Day,” the CPDM section release states.

Councillors from the three Municipal Councils constituting the city of Limbe will be electing a new City Mayor on Wednesday, to fill a void that has existed for the past two months, since the death of pioneer Mayor Andrew Motanga Monjimba.

They were summoned by the Fako Senior Divisional Officer, Emmanuel Engamba Ledoux in a communiqué on February 25. The new Mayor will be elected at an extraordinary session at the Limbe City Council scheduled for 10 am this Wednesday.

For the past two months, the Limbe City Council has been managed by First Deputy Mayor, Karen Nora Muto Tanga.

Motanga’s death on January 5 this year sparked in fighting at the City Council between the first deputy mayor and the secretary general, over who was to command the city’s affairs as interim Mayor.

The contention was however settled when authorities aided Karen Tanga to assume the Interim Mayor seat on January 20.

The endorsement of Chief Woka Daniel by the CPDM section is a decision which has likely been influenced by the CPDM’s central authorities in Yaounde, as they have been noted in the past for playing an instrumental role in the election of CPDM militants into key government positions in the country.

In such cases, elections usually aim to fulfill “all righteousness” as the regime’s desired candidates, as seen in the December 2020 Regional Council election, get chosen, not elected.
