CPP celebrates judicial victory over MINAT, Samuel Tita Fon nurses hope

The Supreme Court of Cameroon has thrown out an appeal filed by Cameroon’s Ministry of Territorial Administration opposing a verdict of the administrative tribunal of the centre region that “…upheld the legal and legitimate leadership of the Cameroon People’s Party (CPP)”.

In a court decision signed by the first president of the Supreme Court of Cameroon, Daniel Mekobe Sone on December 26, 2020, the court rejects the appeal of MINAT and issued a decision giving reasons to the leadership of the CPP.

The Secretary General of Cameroon People’s Party, Franck Essi, in a press statement, says the decision of the Supreme Court therefore rejects Mr.Tita Samuel Fon as leader of the CPP as stipulated by Paul Atanga Nji, Minister of Territorial Administration.

“On the 17th of July 2018, Paul Atanga Nji instructed that the official representative of the party was Tita Samuel Fon, member of G20 earlier expelled from the party”.

The CPP has welcomed the Supreme Court decision but says “we remain outraged by such crude maneuvers which are grave attacks on the freedom of association and are illustrations of various obstacles put in place to prevent the effective work of opposition political parties “.

CPP headed by Edith Kah Walla thinks such an unwanted behaviour from the Minister of Territorial Administration warrants a resignation and government should pay reparation to the CPP.

“The CPP reserves the right to take all appropriate steps in order to obtain reparation in accordance with various damages and inconveniences caused by the abuse of administrative power”.

Contacted on phone by Mimi Mefo Info Wednesday December 30th, Mr. Tita Samuel Fon appointed by Minister Paul Atanga Nji as head of CPP in 2018 says “I equally filed a case against Edith Kah Walla and her leadership at the administrative court in the centre region two months ago. So I am still waiting for the verdict from the court. I don’t know about the decision of the Supreme Court on that”.

“I’m first observing that the appeal of the Minister in the Supreme Court is for some technical reasons rejected. I made a fierce opposition against what was filed by Kah Walla and the ruling of the administrative court of Yaounde. As the national chairman and founder of CPP, I raised objection to Kah Walla’s usurping of the powers of the national chairman and founder,” Tita Samuel Fon added in a whatsapp message forwarded to Mimi Mefo Info.

While waiting to see the next step to be taken by Tita Samuel Fon and the Minister of Territorial Administration, CPP is committed to fight for the refoundation of the state as the only way to complete the process of independence.
