“CRM militants are persecuted in Cameroon” – Barrister Ndong Christopher

Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) political party in Cameroon has noted that her militants are under ‘attack’ from the regime in Cameroon.

Reacting to a decision of the Yaounde military tribunal Tuesday, November 3rd placing nine militants of the party arrested on September 22nd on a six months provisional detention at the Kondengui prison, the Secretary-General of the CRM party says Cameroon’s judicial service is in a state of lawlessness.

Speaking to Mimi Mefo Info in a telephone interview Wednesday, November 4, 2020, Barrister Ndong Christopher says “What CRM party militants are experiencing in Cameroon is persecution and not prosecution . They judge unarmed civilians in a military court and without giving them the opportunity to express themselves, they are bundled at night and send to Kondengui prison for a provisional six months detention”.

The politician and member of the Bar in Cameroon says the judiciary has taken the habit of not respecting the law but works following the dictates of the administration that is practicing political witch-hunting.
“Why is the judiciary carrying the militants at night to the prison? This is because they know that what they are doing is illegal,” said Ndong.

As to what the Cameroon Renaissance Movement party will do, the Secretary General of the party says the party will send their lawyers there. “We know that they already have a pre-meditated verdict to sentence them. So all what they are doing now is just drama to show to the public. The judiciary has no say. The executive imposes what verdict will be given”.

To Barrister Ndong Christopher, thirty seven other militants of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement arrested on the 22nd of September had earlier been placed in a pretrial detention at Kondengui prison in Yaounde.

Nine placed on a six-month pretrial detention in Kondengui yesterday include Prof. Alain Fogue, national treasurer of the party and Olivier Bibou Nissack, spokesman of prof. Maurice Kamto.
