CRM militants declare protest intentions to Maroua II Divisional Officer

Militants of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, CRM party in Maroua II Subdivision in the Far North region of Cameroon have declared to competent administrative authorities their intention to carry out a nonviolent protest on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.

In a letter addressed to the subdivisional officer of Maroua II on Monday 14th September 2020, three signatories of the letter, on behalf of CRM party in Maroua II, say the protest will take place at “Carrefour Monts Mandara” from 8:00 am to 6:00pm.

They add that henceforth, protest actions of the CRM party will take place every Saturday at the same venue until the regime of president Paul Biya is forced to resign.

The signatories of the declaration Boutche Jean Pierre, Ousmoula Bouba and Wounawang Dawai state that President Paul Biya should go on retirement.

To them, Paul Biya has no respect for the constitution, incapable of resolving the anglophone crisis and constant violation of human rights in Cameroon.

CRM Maroua II Subdivision says their declaration at the office of the Divisional Officer for Maroua II is in respect of the law in Cameroon while stressing that the protest is constitutionally protected.

At the time of this report, the Divisional Officer for Maroua II Subdivision had not issued an official response to the declaration letter tabled by the CRM party.

Earlier, the Minister of Territorial Administration stated that anyone, group or political party that dares to protest will face the wrath of the administration.

Prof. Maurice Kamto, leader of Cameroon Renaissance Movement party alongside other parties and groups are calling for a nonviolent protest to oust the regime of President Paul Biya. To them, the regime has failed in all fronts since 1982.
