CRTV GM Accused Of Lying About AFCON Qualifiers Broadcasting Rights

“Cameroon Radio and Television has no right to broadcast qualification matches for the 2021 African Cup of Nations” a statement from L’Union Africain de Radiodifussion UAR has stated.

In the release, UAR says the government of Cameroon has not paid one million nine hundred and sixty thousands Euro for the broadcast of qualification matches as claimed by the General Manager of state broadcaster, CRTV, Charles Ndongo.

In a communiqué signed on Sunday the 17th November 2019, Charles Ndongo stated that the Cameroon government paid the above sum to permit CRTV broadcast 2021 qualification matches including that played last Sunday pitting Rwanda and Cameroon.

UAR however claims that Cameroon paid money to broadcast matches for the 2019 African cup of nations in Egypt but not for qualification matches.
To the body, the general manager of CRTV Charles Ndongo was invited in Libreville Gabon on the 13th of November to discuss the issue, an invitation Charles Ndongo refused to honour.

UAR has therefore challenged the general manager of CRTV to produce concrete evidence proving that CRTV paid to broadcast qualification matches for the 2021 African Cup of Nations.
At the time of this report, the general manager of CRTV has not reacted to the allegations.
