The web service of the Cameroon Radio Television, CRTV, CRTV Web has come under scathing criticism for what critics say is giving priority to foreign content over local happenings.
The outlet hours ago shared information on the wedding of Nigerian actress, Rita Dominic, but was called out for neglecting real burning issues.
“Inmates dieing with legs cuffed to hospital bed. Five delegates, president of the North West House of Chiefs and many other injustices and rights abuses happening just around which are of great concern. You ignore…. shame CRTV,” wrote a Twitter user.
The same person went on to urge the media outlet to review its content policy, to serve the taxpayers who fund it.
Another twitter user, Manka Leonie, expressed concerns that the media outlet had gone off the rails.
“To think this is published buy our very own CRTV. What a shame. Cameroon doesn’t exist in the dictionary of Nigerians but here we are. How is this news really important to us?” he wrote.
“How does this concern us, when our own actors and actresses get married, it is not reported as news on national TV or by CRTV web. Does Nigeria care about which celebrity in Cameroon gets married or not. Does their national TV even know about our celebrities?” questioned yet another, Ajija Ad.
The responses have been many and varied, but CRTV Web has remained mute, and left the post on its platform.
