Customs Officials Seize 30kg Gold at Yaoundé Nsimalen Airport

Cameroonian Customs officials have arrested a Cameroonian with over 30kg of raw Gold at the Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport.

The arrest was made yesterday afternoon as the smuggler attempted traveling with the precious mineral to Addis Ababa, in Ethiopia.

The gold was hidden amongst his luggage, but was detected and removed by the custom unit at the airport.

For now, not much is known about the Cameroonian smuggler nor where he got the gold which he intended selling.

This is approximately the third time that airport security has apprehended gold traffickers at Cameroonian airports. Most of the traffickers, however, have not been Cameroonians but other nationals using Cameroon as a route to reaching the black market.
