‘Cutlass’: The new era pillar in Cameroon’s movie industry

Cameroon’s entertainment industry is fast evolving and the film sector is not left out.
With concepts such as support your own, locally-made movies are gradually gaining grounds both within the country and beyond.

If a movie should portray a way of life, culture, societal happenings and teach a lesson, then ‘Cutlass’ is the ideal movie.

Shot in the towns of Bamenda, Bafoussam, Douala and Buea, it is directed by Swiss-based director, Burri-Taka Bolalima.

Based on inspiration from true life happenings, ‘Cutlass’ builds its action around a dangerous romantic adventure undertaken by a young girl and a financially supportive bike rider.

With a solid cast backed by a powerful production team, the movie shows how two people can be so close yet so distant, dishing out a lesson of caution and avoidance of jealous love.

It is also a testament of an upgrade in quality of content produced in Cameroon’s entertainment sphere today. A pillar in the new era of the nation’s entertainment industry, ‘Cutlass’ which premiers in August is not a piece to miss.
