Cyril Sam Mbaka sidelined as Patricia Tomaino Ndam Njoya takes command of CDU

Political commentators say the fundamental texts of the Cameroon Democratic Union (CDU) political party have been violated. Patricia Tomaino Ndam Njoya-wife of the founding father of the party, late Adamou Ndam Njoya is the new President of the party.

She was elected at the weekend in a low key celebration to mark the party’s anniversary in Foumban Noun division in the West region of Cameroon. Patricia Ndam Njoya will have to lead the party till 2021 when an ordinary convention shall take place.

The first National Vice President of the party Cyril Sam Mbaka was conspicuously absent with poor health cited as a reason. Going by the texts of the CDU, the first Vice President is supposed to take over leadership in case of death of the President of the party.

How the texts were trespassed and the wife of the late president of the party propelled to the helm of the party is what political commentators in Cameroon are yet to understand. Efforts to get Cyril Sam Mbaka on phone by Mimi Mefo Info to comment on what many have termed a “political coup” have not yielded fruits.

The anniversary celebration of the party and subsequent election of the party’s new president was presided by the second vice president Christophe Ndeuhela.

Note that Adamou Ndam Njoya passed on to eternity on the 7th of March 2020.
