Cameroon has been placed amongst one of the top jailers of journalists by the Committee to Protect Journalists, (CPJ) in 2021. According to the report, Cameroon has at least 6 journalists imprisoned for reasons related to their jobs. The highest in Africa is Eritrea, with 16 Journalists imprisoned.

At least three persons are believed to have died inside one of the houses razed down by the military yesterday at the Mbengwi road neighbourhood in Bamenda, North West Region. The burnings are said to have been carried out by the military in retaliation for an attack on them by Separatist fighters.

Reports in Bamenda say an individual was publicly executed by Soldiers yesterday at the Ntarikon neighbourhood. It is speculated that the victim may have been killed in relation to the attack on the military yesterday that killed one of them.

Territorial Administration Minister, Paul Atanga Nji has presided over the bi-annual conference of Regional Governors in Yaoundé. Amongst other things being discussed was how the local authorities were going to contribute to the hosting of a successful AFCON tournament.


Speaking at the biannual governors’ conference, Minister Paul Atanga Nji failed to address last night’s burnings and killings in Bamenda, North West Region. This is particularly significant as the incident recorded yet another heavy casualty, highlighting the deterioration of the armed conflict in the English-speaking regions.

Some Members of Parliament today met in a forum on the virtues and stakes of traditional medicine. The session, one of the few marking the November session of Parliament was chaired by deputy speaker at the National Assembly, Hon. Kombo Gberi.


Samuel Eto’o Fils who is one of two candidates gunning for the football federation’s top job has urged supporters not to take to the streets to demonstrate support for him. Speaking through his publicist, the football legend said anyone protesting will rather be doing so against him. The election, one of the most contested ever, is slated to take place on Saturday.
