Tributes have been pouring in, in honour of Limbe City Council’s deceased Mayor, Andrew Montanga Mojimba. The official died earlier this evening, while on sick leave. Montanga prior to his death, headed the council for close to 15 years.


Five days after promising the creation of three new state universities, President Paul Biya has followed up with paper action. Today, he signed a decree creating the Universities of Ebolowa, Bertoua and Garoua. The heads of these new establishments are expected be appointed in the days ahead. Questions abound however, as to whether such decrees are sufficient to provide the infrastructure that makes universities successful.

Tourism and Leisure Minister, Bello Bouba today met with some stakeholders in the hospitality sector ahead of the African Cup of Nations. At the capacity building seminar, they brainstormed on ways to sell Cameroon’s image positively at the continent’s top sporting event. The competition starts this Sunday, January 09, 2022.


Senator Aboubakari Abdoulaye, CPDM senator and Vice President of the Senate has scheduled a meeting tomorrow with Parliamentarians and other CPDM militants from the North Region. The aim is to extend their gratitude to the Head of State for promising to create a State University in their region.


The President of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, Professor Maurice Kamto has asked his militants not to make derogatory remarks about the AFCON. He argued that the competition is for Cameroonians and cannot be sabotaged to proof a point to the regime.


At least 5 activists of the Stand Up for Cameroon movement have been sentenced to 16 months imprisonment by the Douala Military Court. The 5 members were arrested in September 2020 after a meeting at their headquarters and accused of plotting a revolution and insurrection. Their case was also tied to that of the CRM militants arrested after the September 22, nationwide protest.


Three Burkina Faso Players have tested positive to Covid-19, few days to their game against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. The Stallions are scheduled to face the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the opening game of the AFCON tournament on January 09, 2022. The three players in question have not travelled to Cameroon together with the rest of the team.
