A conference on the Anglophone Conflict ended in Canada this Monday November 1st 2021. The gathering which brought together frontliners in the conflict, religious leaders and other stakeholders sought to look at ways of resolving the bloody conflict which started in 2016. This is one of the major meetings abroad since the war began. Critics, however, hold that it was “not inclusive.”




A taxi driver is being detained in Buea after his car exploded today at the heart of the town. The explosion in the car is believed to have been dropped by an anonymous passenger who had boarded the car earlier. Findings are ongoing.




Reports say the former Head of Telecommunications Regulatory Agency, Jean Louise Beh Mengue has been slammed a 20-year jail term by the Special Criminal Court. He was arrested in 2019 for misappropriating public funds.



CPDM elite of the Lékie Division has launched calls for President Paul Biya to stand again for another term in 2025. The calls were led by Minister Henri Eyebe Ayissi of State Property, Surveys, and Land Tenure in a CPDM meeting on October 31, 2021. The move has sparked outrage across the national territory.




Workers of the hygiene and sanitation company, HYSACAM have resumed work in Yaoundé after calling off their strike. Last week, piles of garbage were unattended to especially in the capital city, Yaounde as the workers protested against months of unpaid salaries.





Heavy winds have left many houses in Ndop, North West Region roofless. The winds recorded this evening, locals say, also left property destroyed. No one was injured, but many families are now stranded.


The Special Criminal Court has slammed Jean Louis Beh Mengue a 20-year jail term. The former Director of the Telecommunications Regulatory Agency was arrested in 2019 and had since been undergoing prosecution. He was today handed the sentence on charges of embezzlement.
