The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi today came under fire from MPs over the neglected Bamenda-Babadjou road. Quizzed in parliament today about the road, he once more promised imminent works. The same road it should be recalled, has been programmed for construction for several years, but remains undone.


Close to a week after soldiers stormed the St Elizabeth Catholic General Hospital in Shisong Kumbo and tortured staff, authorities have remained mute. The soldiers invaded the health facility in search of separatist fighters who were alleged to be treated there. Not finding any, they tortured guards and threatened to set the hospital ablaze.

Soldiers detained drivers and passengers at a checkpoint along the Batibo-Bamenda road in the North West Region yesterday. Sources say this happened following an attack by separatist fighters that left two army cars destroyed. The soldiers held passengers, stating that their cars must be repaired.

In a similar instance, soldiers on Tuesday, blocked the Kumba-Mamfe road in the South West Region, leaving hundreds stranded for hours. They later let those heading into Kumba to proceed, but those willing to leave the town had to do so on foot.


A 22-Year-Old lady was arrested today in Foumbot West Region after she threw her baby inside a toilet. The child was discovered by the lady’s neighbours. He was removed from the toilet and taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.


An ex-convict has been arrested in Ebolowa after being accused of killing a 9-year-old. The little boy called Moise Mbou was reportedly sent to the market to sell cassava leaves when he met his assailant who lured him into a bush and killed him.

Two Cameroonian actors have been honoured with two prizes at the Sotigui Awards in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Esu Rigobert and Dany Mannou were awarded Best Male and Best Female Actors for their roles in the Cameroon series “Madame… Monsieur”



4 Cameroonian Judo athletes have brought home four Medals at the Dakar Judo Open. They were also ranked 5th best team from the 17 participating Nations with 1 gold medal, 1 Silver medal, and 1 Bronze Medal.
