The Ministry of Defense is seeking the lion’s share of Cameroon’s 2022 budget. At the weekend, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense defended a budget of 259.8 Billion FCFA for his ministry. This comes at a time the country is facing armed conflicts in the North West, South West, and Far North Regions. This is further fueling speculations that there are financial benefits being derived from the conflicts that make some stakeholders unwilling to seek a solution.




The Minister of Territorial Administration has defended a budget of 37.9 Billion FCFA, placing emphasis among other things, on the need to cater for Internally Displaced Persons and refugees living across the country.



Cameroon’s Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea has informed Cameroonians living in Equatorial Guinea of another imminent crackdown on non-documented foreigners in the country. The Ambassador has asked Cameroonians there to update their documents or indicate at the consulate if they desire to return to Cameroon.



Boko Haram terrorists have killed at least one member of Cameroon’s Rapid Intervention Battalion, (BIR) in Zélévet, Far North Region. Several others were equally injured in the attack carried out by the Islamist group.


Some contract workers with the National Institute of Statistics have cried foul after going for months without pay by the NIS for a contract they signed. Some of the frustrated workers who worked in the crisis-hit Anglophone regions say they risked their lives, and are yet to be paid for their sacrifices.


Cameroon’s Amputee football team has gained momentum after beating The Gambia at the ongoing African Cup of Nations for Amputees in Tanzania. Cameroon is in their second participation, having emerged the 5th best team in the maiden edition of the tournament hosted by Morocco in 2019.
