Daily Dose of News Roundup September 15, 2021

Several parts of Cameroon’s restive Anglophone regions recorded relatively few activities today, the first day of a three-week long lockdown by separatists. In many parts of the concerned regions, locals stayed indoors and restricted their kids from going to school for fear of the unknown. The lockdown precedes October 1, the supposed independence day for the separatist movement.

Some parts of the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon this Wednesday defied a controversial lockdown instituted by the Dr Sako-led Ambazonian Interim Government. In Buea and Nkambe for instance, many residents were carrying out their daily tasks as usual.

Separatist fighters abandoned a corpse at Mbessi Junction in Mile 4, Nkwen Bamenda, NWR. A note on the body inscribed ‘blackleg’. This happened during day one of a controversial two-week lockdown in the Anglophone regions of the country.

The competitive entrance examination into the National Polytechnic Higher Institute of the University of Bamenda took place today in Bambili — amid lockdown. Courageous candidates got to the campus on board motorbikes.

Territorial Administration Minister, Atanga Nji “has calmed” flaring tensions at a school in Ngaoundere, Adamawa Region of Cameroon. Muslim students’ parents had stopped them from going to school over school authorities’ insistence that they wear badges on which the cross is affixed.

An elderly woman held by Separatists in Barombi, Meme Division of the South West Region has been freed. She was reportedly released by soldiers after the latter stormed the camp where she was held, “neutralising” her captors.
