Ahead of October 1, the day British Southern Cameroons gained its independence, an atmosphere of fear reigns over the territory — particularly in the country’s English-speaking regions. Now known as the North West and South West, the regions characterized by an armed conflict have often witnessed a violent crackdown by security forces on this day. Ahead of this year’s commemoration, administrative authorities of three different divisions have already prohibited any public manifestations or gatherings.


The UN humanitarian agency, OCHA has revealed that about 200,000 people in need of food assistance, after Separatists imposed a ban on movements in the North West and South West regions. The decision, OCHA adds, has also made relief efforts impossible in hard-to-reach and conflict-affected areas.


Rectors and Vice-Chancellors of state universities in Cameroon have been tasked to ensure a smooth 2021/2022 academic year in their respective institutions. The call was made by Higher Education Minister, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo in Yaounde today as he met with the different heads of establishments and other stakeholders.


A 33-year-old Cameroonian called Armand Zorn has been voted into the German Parliament. Born in 1988 in Yaoundé, Armand Zorn has promised to always consider the interest of his constituents.


Another Cameroonian-born, Dr. Nkengasong is online to be nominated by the American President, Joe Biden as an Ambassador. He is currently the Director of the Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention.


An investigation has been launched against some families believed to have brutalized two medical doctors in Yaoundé, capital city of Cameroon. Public Health Minister Manaouda Malachie has condemned the act and says the perpetrators will be prosecuted.


Two Cameroonians have been blocked in Angola following a CAF Champions League game. The duo has been quarantined by Angolan authorities after testing positive for the Coronavirus.
