Days after PM’s visit: Residents begin countdown to construction works on Babadjou-Bamenda, Mankon Stadium

The construction of the Babadjou-Bamenda road suspended in 2018 on account of insecurity is expected to be relaunched soon.

The information was disclosed by Prime Minister Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute during his four-day visit to Bamenda.

“Immediately I return to Yaounde, I will convene the three companies in charge of the road so that work can start without delay,” PM Dion Ngute told the population.

Few days after the PM left Bamenda, tongues have already started wagging, asking questions about when exactly works will start since this is not the first time promises of this magnitude are made.

The Prime Minister announced that few days before he comes to Bamenda, the World Bank, charged with financing the project had given its okay for works to resume.

The PM also acknowledged that Bamenda is the only regional capital with this kind of access road.

The population who had heard previous pronouncements on the restart of the works reduced to inaction expects the PM’s declaration to be transmitted into concrete actions.

” This is not a time when you come and deceive people. Gone are those days when we use to come here and talk about our politics and say we will, we will. It should go with action”, a Bamenda inhabitant said.

The people of the Northwest region deserve better. Bamenda used to be a place where people from other regions always come and enjoy life but it’s no longer the case.

The Prime Minister also promised to see to the reconstruction of the Mankon Main Stadium. The people are waiting to see if PM Dion Ngute will honor his words.
