Defence Ministry analysis the damage done by the terrorist attack in the Far North and the military aircraft that went off the runway in the same region

The Ministry of Defence has given out an official statement on the separate security concerns that have hit the country of recent.

Firstly, about to the terrorist attack by some unidentified terrorists on the Saturday night August 1, 2020 in the Nguetchewe village in the Mayo-Moskota Sub-division, Mayo Tsanaga Division in the Far North Region to carry out their atrocities.

The Ministry of Defence in a Press Release signed by the head of the Communication division, Cyrille Serge Atomfack, reveals that the alleged terrorists attacked and assaulted members of the local Vigilante committee together with the civilian populations after which they detonated their explosives.

“After assaulting the members of the local vigilante and other civilian, some of whom hid in makeshift shelters, two suicide bombers chased them and activated explosive charges” read an excerpt of the Press Release.

The MINDEF assesses the damage caused due to the attack by unidentified terrorists at 19 civilian deaths including the two suicide bombers and 16 persons injured.

The communiqué has revealed that an investigation has been opened into the attack with details of the despicable act to be briefed to the MINDEF.
On a similar note, MINDEF has equally reacted on the A C130 Air Force aircraft which went off the runway while landing on Sunday August 2, 2020.

“The aircraft was on a mission and had on board 96 passengers including 05 crew members and 91 Defence Forces personnel deployed within the Multinational Joint Task force of the Lake Chad basin commission” it revealed.

The communiqué assures that there were no human lives lost during the minor accident except for some material damage. MINDEF has equally said the immediate investigation provided for such circumstances were immediately initiated to determine the cause of the accident.
