Despite AGovC’s claims, no evidence shows it was invited to Trump’s inauguration.

Today, as Donald Trump takes office as US President Elect, the Ambazonia Governing Council (AGovC), led by Dr. Ayaba Cho Lucas, claims it received an invitation to the inauguration.

MMI was unable to authenticate from a third party the invitation purported by the AGovC.

The public list of foreign bodies, celebrities, and business people invited to the inauguration does not include anyone from AGovC.

AGovC itself issued a press release stating that it received an invitation, and that’s the only letter the media has.

The release signed by its Secretary General, Ibadia Mua, states that a senior official of the Ambazonia Governing Council (AGovC), at the invitation of high-level U.S. officials, will be attending the inauguration of the 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, on January 20th, 2025. 

Lack of Corroboration

However, what is lacking in the communication is the name of the “high-level official” from AGovC that has been invited. That’s because its leader, Ayaba Cho Lucas, is still in detention in Norway for crimes against humanity.

Despite not naming who will be attending because of the organisation, the release generalised that the said AGovC official was invited by “high-level US officials.”. Again they have not mentioned the names of the high-level US officials.

The inauguration is today, and Trump personally sent invitations to some world leaders.

For AGovC, whose invitation is doubtful, it says, “This historic invitation is a diplomatic victory for the AGovC and the Ambazonian people. These invitations are exclusive and often given to foreign dignitaries and eminent personalities on a case-by-case basis by U.S. officials.”

“The AGovC looks forward to working with President Trump and the United States government to secure freedom and independence for Ambazonia and to establish strong U.S.-Ambazonia ties.” Mua, AGovC SG added.

They equally called on all Ambazonians in the United States, especially those living in and around Washington, DC, to turn out in their numbers on January 20, 2025, to appreciate and support the incoming administration of President-Elect Donald J. Trump.

Is It Amba Propaganda?

The claim invitation may appear to be another piece of propaganda from AGovC. The body was unable to publish the invitation it received; instead, it issued a press release. That then cast doubts on who invited them and how.

Currently, AGovC President is still under a ban from entering the USA. And the US government is well aware of Ayaba Cho Lucas’ detention.

Meanwhile, their claims have been reduced by the People’s Rights Advocacy Platform (PRAP), which stated that no official invitation was extended to AGovC and highlighted that unrecognised political entities are typically not invited to such events.

“Given the lack of official confirmation and the presence of contradictory information, it remains uncertain whether the AGovC was formally invited to Donald Trump’s inauguration.” PRAP said.
