Diplomacy:
President Biya called, thanked me for hosting Cameroonian refugees – Chad’s President, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno

The Chairman of the Transitional Military Council of the Republic of Chad, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno has revealed that Cameroon’s Head of State, President Paul Biya called him on phone yesterday.

According to Mahamat Idriss Deby, President Paul Biya called him so they could strengthen cooperation ties between Cameroon and Chad, and also to show his appreciation to Chad for hosting thousands of Cameroonian refugees.

Following the deterioration of an Intertribal Conflict in the Far North Region, pitting the Mousgoums against the Choa Arabs, more than 50,000 Cameroonians are reported to have massively crossed the border to Chad.

Chadian authorities have shown solidarity with Cameroon in resolving the conflict, and assured its neighbor of its full support for peace to return to the chaotic zones.
