Diplomat denies Amba attack on Nigerian territory

His Excellency Bappah Lawal, the Nigerian Consul general to the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon has debunked reports that Amba fighters invaded a territory in Cross river, Nigeria, killing 20 persons.

H.E Bappah Lawal made the statement in an exclusive interview with The Guardian Post newspaper recently.

The said attack, he stated, took place in Cameroon:

“The story saying some Amba fighters entered Nigeria, killing some 20 persons is not accurate. What happened actually transpired within the Cameroonian territory” He said.

The Nigerian Consul reiterated that immediately the incident took place, the Nigerian military alongside Civilian authorities, were dispatched to check whether the rumors were accurate or not.

“The Nigerian military and security have been dispatched to those areas and they have cross checked, and there is no truths to reports that it happened in Nigeria” H.E. Bappah indicated.

The incident in question took place in Obonyi town in Akwaya in the South West Region about a week ago, where 20 persons were killed with many others injured.
