Disturbed citizens raise cooking gas exploitation concerns

Some Cameroonians have raised an obvious concern over neglect of the cooking gas sector by public authorities.

Over the years, several Cameroonians from across the country have often complained about the continuous increase in the price of cooking gas.

To make matters worse, it’s been also noticed that the quantity of gas usually contained in a standard gas bottle has greatly reduced.

There are many who have complained of cooking gas bought at 7,500 FCFA lasting just over 2 weeks after modest use.

“This has been going on for years and the authorities seem very less concerned about it. It is practically appalling for a bottle of cooking gas bought at 7,500FCFA to last for just 2 weeks” an individual complained.

“Several cases of gas theft have been reported from all over, and yet nothing is done about it” he continued, adding that a weight-based approach for purchasing cooking gas should be implemented to limit it’s theft.

“There should be an untampered weight for cooking gas in a bottle. This should be such that the sellers cannot adjust it for their own interests” the individual proposed.
