The new Senior Divisional Officer for the Dja & Lobo Divison in the South Region, Mr Damian Owona, recieved total embarrassment as he visited the Meyomessala subdivision on Monday, April 12, 2021.
Out of the total 19 villages that surround the subdivision, not a single inhabitant made it to the venue of the visit of the Senior Divisional Officer, except for 15 third class chiefs.
Visible incensed by the situation, the S.D.O questioned the village authorities’ incompetence in galvanizing people around for an important reunion.
“You block your people in their homes and you yourselves don’t show up. How do you explain that?” The S.D.O asked the Chiefs.
One of the Chiefs replied the administrator telling him “Mr S.D.O, the problem is that in the Bulu Zone, we are a little marginalized. When we summon meetings nobody comes and nobody cares”.
After over 15 minutes of waiting on the population to show up at the venue of the event, the S.D.O decided to return to Sangmelima, telling the chiefs he would only return when they had properly prepared for his visit next.
The new S.D.O was appointed in December 2020, and last Wednesday began making a tour and assessment of the Socio-economic assessment of his Administrative unit. Many of the villagers meanwhile see the visits as needless because to them, it is not important to listen to administrators whose promises will always go unfulfilled.
