Donga Mantung: Gendarmes arrest two marijuana farmers

By Mbatho Ntan

Lame Abdul Karimu and Kwebe Denis have confessed to be cultivators and sellers of Marijuana in Mayo Binka and Binju villages respectively in Nkambe Subdivision, Donga Mantung Division.

Arrested by elements of the national gendarmerie in Nkambe Friday, November 20, 2020, the two suspects say they have been in the business for several years, describing it as a source of livelihood.

Danzabe Henry, Commander of the Gendarmerie Brigade in Nkambe explained to the press that his elements launched a special operation that led to the arrest of the duo.
To the Senior Divisional Officer of Donga Mantung Division , “… the consumption and commercialization of hard drugs is fueling violence in a division that has been peaceful all these while. They cultivate these drugs in villages and sell to separatist fighters who consume and later violate the rights of the local population”.

To Simon Nkwenti Ndoh, “…this is the second time in less than a week that drug dealers have been arrested in Donga Mantung. I have to congratulate the forces of law and order while calling on the population to denounce perpetrators of such acts that live among people in the community “.

The two suspects are in custody at the moment in Nkambe and will be presented to the state counsel in the days ahead.

Donga Mantung Division, though enjoying relative peace in the restive North West Region, periodically experiences violent actions perpetrated by separatist fighters.
