Donga Mantung: Needy children Benefit from Scholarship Scheme

250 needy children, some rendered orphans due to the current socio-political unrest have received school items as part of the 15 million FCFA scholarship scheme in Donga Mantung division instituted by the an influencial son of the division, Dr Fuh Calistus Gentry.

Outstanding students and pupils in all the five subdivisions of the Donga Mantung division have also benefitted from the scholarship scheme.

Performances at the GCE Ordinary and Advanced Levels, First School Leaving Certificate examinations guided the amounts which ranges from a minimum of 30.000FCFA to a maximum of 150.000FCFA.

The Donga Mantung scholarship scheme is in it’s second edition and it has as aim to revive mainstream education in the division were some areas have suffered from school boycott.

As schools resumed on Monday September 6, education officials confirmed that some schools in the division effectively resumed classes for the 2021/2022 academic year.

Statistics collected from various schools in the division indicates that 15.000 out of the expected 25.000 students and pupils turned out for classes on the first day of the new academic year mostly in the headquarters Nkambe.
