Douala: Couple under intensive after being poisoned hours to wedding

A Douala-based couple is reported to have been placed under intensive medical care after consuming a poisoned meal a few hours to their wedding.

The couple was expected to formalize their union on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the Japoma neighborhood in Douala, Littoral Region — but the bride and groom to-be were poisoned before they said ‘i do’.

Some family members also consumed the poisoned meal, MMI has learned.

Two children and one of the mothers-in-law according to the state media were equally victims of this poisoning.

“The police, who have opened an investigation, suspect the cousin of the future husband, very close to his ex-companion was involved,” a family source revealed to the press.

The identity of the suspect has however, not been revealed.
