Douala floods: Weather forecast predicts more rains

Cameroon’s Economic capital could face severe inundations for the second time in over a week.

An alert from Meteorological ASECNA has indicated that more rainfall, even more intense than last week’s should be expected in Douala from Monday, August 24, 2020 to Wednesday August 26th.

Faced with this predicament, authorities in Douala have emphasised calls for the people to leave flood risky zones as early as they can to avoid the possible negative impacts that could be brought forth by the upcoming downpours.

The mayor of Douala, Roger Mbassa Ndine echoed calls for the population of the economic capital to observe the standards and rules in terms of town planning and land use.

He particularly called people to free up the drain cluttered areas of the city for rehabilitation works to proceed on them.
Similar appeals have equally been launched by the governor of the Litoral region, Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua, asking the population to take necessary steps necessary to avoid the unnecessary surprises that the weather may have on them in the forthcoming days.
