Douala: Man burnt alive for allegedly stealing motorbike

An unidentified man was nabbed, beaten and set ablaze on Wednesday, January 25, at Ndobo in Cameroon’s economic capital Douala, for reportedly stealing a motorbike.

It is alleged that he was about to flee with the bike when he was caught and manhandled by the mob at about 3:00PM.

His charred remains passed the night on the road where he was killed and a police truck was only seen parading the area this morning, almost twenty-four hours later.

His face was totally unidentifiable and his body darkened by smoke.

A bike rider at Ndobo told MMI that two other men succeeded to run away with another bike they are reported to have stolen.

“We as bike riders have lost more than 40 bikes in 2022 and close to 10 bikes this 2023,” the bike rider said.
