Douala: Man dies from excess consumption of whisky

The news of the death of Noumbissi André has taken the people of Bonamoussadi by shock.

He was found dead after having consumed several sachets of whisky and some bottles of beer.

Close neighbors to Noumbissi André have testified that he has always been a heavy consumer of alcohol, especially sachet whisky. After drinking beer, he would often proceed to consume at least six or seven sachets of whisky before taking a break, his neighbors say.

The Guardian Post Newspaper reports that Noumbissi André had returned home on Friday from his part-time job, commercial bike riding, and parked his motorbike outside knowing he will take it out for his hustle later that evening.

“When we were going to bed at 10pm that evening, I noticed that his bike was still parked at the same position it was when he parked it in the day. I looked through his window and found him asleep. This morning when I knocked on his door, he did not open. On peeping through his window, I realized that his sleeping position was still the same as how I saw him the previous night… So I called my father who then proceeded to alert the police,” recounted Noumbissi’s neighbor.

The deceased was reportedly transferred to Douala from Bafoussam by a cigarette company whose products he distributed. His corpse has been returned to Bafoussam where it will be buried.
