Douala residents decry 72 hours quit notice issued by government

A 72 hours quit notice has been issued by government for some inhabitants of Valley Bessengue in Douala.

The decision has been issued by administrative authorities of the Littoral Region of Cameroon, urging the inhabitants to quit their houses.

According to the Minister of state property, Henri Eyebe, the said houses did not respect the 70 metres delimitation demanded by the Cameroon rails Company, CAMRAIL.

Despite all pleadings by the inhabitants for the extention of the 72 hours dateline, their cry proved futile.

“We really feel bad with what is happening to us right now. We are still in shock because we didn’t see this coming, all what we demand from the administrative authorities is to accord us enough time, knowing that we have children going to school, while some are to sit for the public exams. We plead that enough time should be given to us, 72 hours is too short.” said an inhabitant of the Valley Bessengue neighborhood.

The inhabitants of Valley Bessengue acknowledging their mistake, have a single cry: enough time to displace themselves from their current homes.
