Douala: Road Roller kills one in fatal accident

One person in Bonamoussadi, Douala has lost his life after getting his head completely crushed by a road roller. Two others were equally injured and are now receiving medical care.

This road roller which belongs to the BOFAS Construction company was working on the road in the Bonamoussadi neighborhood when the tragedy occured.

The driver of the heavy machine had reportedly parked the truck by the roadside and left to rest. His apprentice however was the one who got onto the machine to continue from where the driver had stopped.

He unknowingly steered the roller by the side of the road where some bikes were parked. The rear wheel of the road roller crushed the victim who was standing between the bikes, splashing his brain out of his skull. The driver of the road roller had to jump into the machine to stop it from causing more damage.

The angry population which had just witnessed the incident rose up angrily and threatened to burn the machine. They were however stopped by the police which dispersed them with the use of tear gas.

The apprentice who had steered the machine into trouble also narrowly escaped from the wrath of the angry mob.
