Sand truck collides with train, injuring two

A sand truck collided with a train while crossing the PK 16+400 in Japoma, Douala, this morning resulting in two injuries, according to the Cameroon Railway Corporation (CAMRAIL).

The collision, attributed to non-compliance with railway crossing regulations, left two people injured, who were promptly treated for their injuries, according to CAMRAIL.

“This situation led to a prolonged stoppage of the said train for the necessary findings, and arrangements were made for the evacuation of passengers from the scene of the incident,” a release from the corporation reads.

The truck driver has been blamed for disregarding safety rules while crossing the railway track.

It was noted that the train typically signals its approach by honking as it traverses the PK 16 axis.

CAMRAIL emphasised the importance of heightened vigilance among all road users, urging drivers to adhere strictly to safety regulations when crossing railway lines to avoid similar accidents in the future.
