The owner of an equipped clothes and shoe shop in Douala is in tears as she woke up to the most devastating discovery.
Thieves took advantage of the downpour on the night of May 13, 2023 in the city to break into her shop situated a few meters from ALPICAM GATE, Mambanda, in Bonaberi.
“They emptied every bit of content in it,” the victim’s husband told MMI.
The burglars carried out their operation on Saturday night, breaking Sunday as it rained heavily.
“…every item was carried away, they even removed the floor carpet. They destroyed every lock on the door, we didn’t even find any of the locks,” her husband told Mimi Mefo Infos.
The robbery may also have been facilitated by the lack of electricity, given lights were seized as the rains began.
“The shop was worth about ten million FCFA,” said our source who described the incident as ‘aggravated theft.’
For now the identities of the suspects remain unknown.
A police investigation could however, shine a spotlight on the situation.
