Douala: Three Children die in Stampede after fake alert of presence of Microbes

Three children of the ages of 14, 15, and 16 have been reported dead after a fake alert of the presence of the criminal gang ‘les Microbes’ at the Marseille Establishment

The incident occurred on the 1st of January in Bonamoussadi, Douala, Littoral Région of Cameroon which left several others injured.

This Establishment had a makeshift nightclub set in one of the classrooms. There was, therefore, very little risk assessment carried out to ensure safety of the large numbers of persons who attended the club that night.

The false alarm that the dreaded gang was around sent many of the party-goers scurrying for safety, which resulted in the deaths of the three youngsters.

The conversion of classrooms into nightclubs is a common practice at the end of every year whereby institutions with huge buildings and space, are transformed into snack bars and discothèques during the New Year’s feast.

This is the case with the Bonamoussadi neighborhood as several children met at the Marseille school.

The incident has left the families of the victims in mourning.

Meanwhile, those who were injured have been admitted to the Bonamoussadi Regional hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
