Douala: Tussle, as children attempt retrieving father’s abandoned corpse

There has been a tussle in the Kotto village neighborhood of Douala, Littoral Region after some children who had abandoned their struggling father for 3 years appeared to claim his corpse.

According to Cameroon News Agency, the 72-year-old dead man was known as Nathan Dominique and he was a former state employee.

Neighbours reportedly indicated that Nathan Dominique was abandoned by his children after being accused of killing their mother, who died three years ago.

According to reports, the old man, since then had been left by his children in the hands of neighbours who in turn took his welfare as their responsibility, till his recent demise.

When informed of his demise, the children without hesitation rushed to claim the corpse of the old man but met fierce resistance from the neighbours.

In the course of the tussle, one of the cars of the old man’s sons mysteriously went up in flames with no one going around it.

The children were however urged by some of the neighbours to seek mercy from both God and their deceased father for their attitude towards him over the last few years of his life.
