Douala:
Head of Bell Clan condemns demolition of houses in Bali

By Amina Hilda

The King of the Bell Clan in Douala, Wouri division of the Littoral region, Jean Yves Eboumboum Manga Bell, has expressed indignation against what he considers ‘inhumane treatment’ given to the people of the Bali vicinity.

At a presser Monday in Douala, Kinga Manga Bell condemned the demolition of houses. According to him, rampant expropriation of land in the area with little or no reasons is considered unjust and unfair.

Though not happy with that which has befallen his people, the king of Canton Bell used the opportunity to express his solidarity towards victims of the demolition.

“if I convened you guys today, it’s to express my indignation and anger, but also my solidarity towards my people. The population of Dikolo in the Bell Canton have once more witnessed an unacceptable violence under the fallacious pretext of economic development. Enough is enough,” King Manga Bell told reporters.
He reiterated that the population was simply expropriated of their lands by the administrative authorities for the construction of private hotels.

This however, is just one of the numerous demolitions carried out by authorities in Douala.
