Dr Manaouda Malachie becomes first Cameroonian Minister to receive COVID-19 vaccine

Cameroon’s Minister of Public Health Dr Manaouda Malachie has had his first COVID-19 vaccine shot today in Yaounde, political capital of the country.

Dr. Manaouda becomes the first Minister in the West African nation to be administered the Sinopharn vaccine from the People’s Republic of China.

While receiving the jab at the Specialised Center for the care of COVID-19 patients in Yaoundé, Manaouda said: “there’s a plan to distribute to all ten regions.”

“I just received the vaccine, that will apply for all health workers. And we thank the Head of state for that,” he told the press.

“The goal is to protect health workers, ourselves…we must continue to respect barrier measures, that is the key” Manaouda Malachie added.

In Cameroon, over 60.000 persons have been infected by the deadly pandemic — with more than 900 deaths.

Reports say funds set aside by the regime to fight the virus were siphoned amid investigations launched last week.
