A road user is receiving medical care after he was shot in the thigh by a road safety officer along the Yaounde-Douala highway.
Videos surfaced on social media shortly after the November 15, 2022 incident.
Reports suggest the car owner now identified as a high-end restaurant owner based in Yaounde, was shot after an exchange with the officer over his car documents.
At the moment, it remains uncertain the nature of their conversation as well as what exactly transpired.
However, the incident has shown a spotlight on rising brutality against civilian population by the forces of law and order in Cameroon.
In many instances, they have acted with impunity, as authorities remain mute.
It remains uncertain if the road safety officer (s) involved in today’s incident have been called to order by their superiors.
No authority too has made an official statement on the happening.
