Edea: 15-Year-Old Raped, Killed

Young Aphrodite Mayo Nyanit, a 15-year-old girl is reported to have been raped and killed in Edea, Littoral Region.

The lifeless body of the girl was only discovered on the road by a truck driver who almost ran her over.

According to media reports, the girl had been sent by her mother to go give food to her sick sister who lived some distance away. On her return, she was Intercepted by a group of boys who abused and killed her.

Investigations showed that the primary perpetrator of the act was an 18-year-old admirer of the girl, whom she had turned down several times. The boy whose name we got as Jean Bikoko was arrested and detained at the Ékité Gendarmerie.

In detention, the alleged perpetrator revealed that he had not committed the crime alone. He named his other accomplices whom the Gendarmes have also launched a manhunt for.

He revealed that he and his accomplices raped the girl, then beat her up and dumped her body on the side of the road. Knife injuries were also discovered on the girl’s body, suggesting she may also have been stabbed several times by the boys.
