Six months after the holding of major national dialogue in Cameroon aimed at solving the anglophone crisis, some Cameroonians hold that the process’ implementation is not yielding fruits given continous bloodshed in the North West and South West regions.
Killings, kidnappings and total insecurity remains the order of the day in some parts of the region.
A followup committee for the implementation of recommendations of the major national dialogue held from September 30th to October 4th 2019 henceforth will have to shoulder the responsibility of monitoring and championing the implementation of recommendations.
Chaired by the Prime Minister and head of government, Dion Ngute, issuing strategic guidelines on the implementation is its top function.
According to a presidential decree of March 23rd 2020, the committee is to mobilise Cameroonians to actively take part in the process of peace building and development. This,to the decree can be achieve but accepting opinions and suggestions from the public on the implementation.
For the implementation of the recommendations, the committee has as members the chairman of the national commission for the promotion of bilingualism and multiculturalism, Archbishop emeritus of Douala, archbishop of the metropolitan diocese of Yaounde, president of the national youth council, two representatives from Bamenda Ecclesiastical province, a representative from Presbyterian Church in Cameroon and Cameroon Baptist Convention, two representatives from the Muslim community in the North west and south west, one from women in the North West and South West, three representatives from the diaspora and four from civil society.
Cameroonians are questioning how the implementation of the recommendations will take place without a call for a ceasefire in the regions.
