Eight Cameroonians listed amongst 100 most influential Africans

In one of Jeune Afrique’s latest publications, a list of 100 most influential Africans is published on one of its columns.

The rankings bring together leaders of various big companies, athletes, prominent artists, scientist and politicians.

Cameroonians who featured on the list include on 21st spot Vera Songwe, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Rebecca Enonchong, Entrepreneur, founder of Apps Tech on 87th position, Achille Mbembe 93rd (University), John Nkengasong 33rd (Virologist and Executive Secretary of CDC Afica), Baba Ahmadou Danpullo 49th (Business man), Paul Fokam Kammongne 55th (Banker), Acha Leke 60th (Consultant) and Imane Ayissi 99th (Stylist and model).

The criteria for the selection of the most influential Africans are divided into three main categories which include: their influence, that is to say the ability to influence some major political situation. This particular criterion excludes persons in power wielding positions as it may be very practical for them. So in essence, Heads of States and Heads of Governments do not appear on the list according to this particular criterion.

The ability to influence economic decisions and to shape public opinion are also some of the major things taken into account, then there is the brand awareness which is measured by the media exposure of the personality being considered to make up the list, and it is being measured by exposure and popularity on social media.

And then finally there is the trajectory, the dynamics of a person’s journey to influence.
