ELECAM condemns online attack on its Facebook page

Elections Cameroon, ELECAM has called the attention of the public and its followers to a derogatory post uploaded on its official Facebook page.

The ELECAM board has condemned the attack by “unknown individuals” and assured the public that investigations to uncover the perpetrators of the act are ongoing.

In a release Wednesday June 24th, the president of ELECAM said the Facebook page of the election management body was hacked at 10pm June 23rd.

According to Enow Abrams Egbe, “The hackers published unfounded information and lies aimed at deceiving the public. All what have been published are contrary to the mission of ELECAM”.

ELECAM condemns Facebook page hacking

The president of ELECAM says measures are underway to get perpetrators of the act and equally address the situation on their Facebook page.

It should be noted that the Facebook page published information is alleging that President Paul Biya did not win the 2018, but Maurice Kamto of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement political party.

Information that have taken many internet users in Cameroon by surprise – given that it was on the official Facebook page of ELECAM. Some critics believe close aides of the election management body might have an idea of what happened.
